Biliardovňa: a billiard club website with online table booking

A billiard club in Bratislava. The brief sounded simple — "we need a website" — but behind it sat a specific problem: tables were booked by phone, and that made everything depend on one person at the bar.

How it worked before

Someone who wants to play in the evening decides during the day, in passing. Calling is inconvenient: the club is loud, the phone is not always answered, and whoever answers has to remember which tables are free.

Everything else follows from that. Some callers never get through and go elsewhere. Staff spend half a shift on the phone instead of with guests. And the only way to know how busy Thursday evening was is to recall it.

What was built

A website with online table booking. The guest picks a date, a time and a table, and gets a confirmation — no call, no messaging.

Then comes the less visible part, which is what actually decides whether it works:

  • taken slots close automatically — two people cannot book the same table at the same time;
  • staff see all bookings in one place, not in a notebook and three chats;
  • it works on a phone, because that is where these decisions get made;
  • pages load fast — a guest who waits leaves for a competitor, and Google counts speed towards rankings.

What it changed

After launch, bookings through the site grew noticeably: a channel that did not exist before started bringing guests on its own.

The second effect matters more to the owner. Bookings stopped living only in someone's head. It became visible which days and hours fill up and which do not — and that can be acted on: offers for quiet hours, tournaments, company events.

Technically

Slovak-language site, responsive layout, a booking form with spam protection, analytics that measures bookings rather than page views. The company's mandatory legal details and a cookie banner were in place from day one.

Domain and hosting are registered to the client. That is deliberate: the site belongs to the business, not to the contractor.

If this sounds familiar

Booking is the most common reason a venue's website pays for itself. A club, a salon, a studio, a court, a coworking space: wherever time in a calendar is being sold, a form on the site beats a phone simply because it is open around the clock.
