Cookie Consent Mode V2

If your site runs analytics or advertising, cookie consent is mandatory — and not just any consent. Since March 2024 Google requires Consent Mode v2; without it you lose data and remarketing is restricted. I build a custom banner that meets the rules and carries no monthly subscription.

What you get

  1. 1A banner in your site's own style, not a third-party module bolted on top.
  2. 2Consent Mode v2 wired correctly into Google Analytics, Tag Manager and the ad accounts.
  3. 3Consent split into analytics, advertising and functional — not one 'accept everything' button.
  4. 4The visitor's choice stored, and changeable at any time.
  5. 5Testing across more than fifteen scenarios: accept, reject, partial consent, repeat visit.
  6. 6A cookie policy page written to match.

Why not an off-the-shelf plugin

  • Ready-made tools charge a monthly subscription forever; a custom banner is a one-off.
  • Most plugins block measurement more than they need to, losing data even where consent was given.
  • A third-party module slows the site down, which Google reflects in rankings.
  • With a ready-made tool you do not control what fires when — and that is exactly what decides whether Consent Mode works.
  • The design cannot be matched to the site without paying extra.

European rules, not Slovak ones

The duty to ask for consent does not come from Slovak law but from European rules — GDPR and the ePrivacy directive. Slovakia adopts them, but they are read the same way across the Union. In practice consent must be freely given, specific and revocable, and measurement may only start afterwards. I set it up so you meet the rules and do not lose data needlessly.

Frequently asked questions

What does a cookie banner cost?

From 200 EUR, one-off. No monthly subscription.

Do I need one if I only run Google Analytics?

Yes. Analytics cookies require consent too. Only strictly necessary technical cookies are exempt.

What happens without one?

You risk a fine from the supervisory authority, and Google restricts remarketing while a share of conversions goes uncounted.

Will it ruin my statistics?

Some data is naturally lost on refusal, but Consent Mode v2 allows modelling to fill the gap. A badly configured banner loses far more.

How long does it take?

Usually two to three working days including testing.
