You have registered a company, now what: the digital start in 30 days

The entry in the Obchodný register has arrived, the IČO is assigned, the bank account is open. Most people exhale at this point and get to work. Three months later they discover that customers cannot find them, the email goes out from gmail, and the domain that "someone sorted out" is registered to that someone.

To be clear from the start: I do not register companies, keep books or handle taxes: that is a notary's and an accountant's job. My work begins exactly here: website, domain, email, advertising, measurement. Below is the order that makes sense, with prices, and what you can do in one evening with nobody's help.

Need a new website?

A company site, an online shop or a booking system. Most projects ship within 15 working days.

Week one: three things that cost nothing and cannot be skipped

1. The domain, in the company's name, not the contractor's

Check whether the .sk with your company name is free. If not, a different short word beats companyname-sk.sk with a hyphen and digits nobody can dictate over the phone.

The key point: the domain's owner is the company or its director. Not the web studio, not the friend who "sorted it out". A domain in someone else's name is the most expensive mistake of the first month: part ways and you lose the address, the email and everything that stood on it. How to choose a registrar and what to watch: the .sk domain.

2. Email on your own domain

info@yourcompany.sk instead of yourcompany2026@gmail.com. It costs nothing extra, and a Slovak supplier, bank or customer reads those two addresses very differently.

Set up SPF, DKIM and DMARC straight away: three DNS records without which your proposals land in spam and you never find out.

3. A Google Business Profile

For a local service it is often the first contact with a customer, before the website. Free, an hour to fill in. Name, address and phone exactly as they will appear on the website and in directories: discrepancies in the address are the most common reason local results never come.

Week two: what the website must carry by law

Before anyone thinks about design, know what has to be there. A Slovak company states on its website the name exactly as in the register, the registered address, IČO, DIČ and the register entry: court, section, insert. Without it the site formally breaches the rules, and practically a Slovak buyer used to seeing an IČO reads its absence as "no idea who this is". The full list: the mandatory details on a website.

If the site will carry analytics or advertising (and it will), you need a cookie banner under EU rules with Consent Mode v2. Not "we use cookies, OK", but one where refusing is as easy as accepting. What exactly is required.

Week three: the website, which kind and at what price

This is where it is decided whether the company grows next year or rebuilds.

TypePriceWhen
Landing pagefrom 1,500€one service, one offer, you want to start fast
Company websitefrom 3,500€several services, portfolio, blog, several languages
Online shopfrom 5,000€selling goods with a cart and payment

What the price includes and what it does not, how to compare offers and why a 500-euro site costs more after a year: in what a website costs in Slovakia.

One piece of advice for a new business: do not start with a big website. A landing page with one service, a contact and the mandatory details in two weeks beats a company site in two months during which nobody finds you. You can always expand. And if you are considering a free site on a builder, first read when it is enough and when it costs you customers.

Week four: measurement, without which nothing can be decided

A website without enquiry tracking is an expense you will never know paid off.

The minimum from day one: Google Analytics 4 through Tag Manager, an event on the successful form submission (not on the button click), marked as a key event, linked to Search Console. It sounds technical, but it is the only way to know a month later where the enquiries came from and what they cost. The steps: configuring GA4.

Search Console belongs here too: free, and it shows which queries the site appears for. For a new company it is the only source of truth about what people are searching.

What can wait

Plainly, because it saves the first month's money:

  • Paid advertising. Until the site has measurement and a page for a specific service, advertising is a paid exit for visitors. First the points above, then what advertising costs.
  • Social media as the main channel. For B2B services it brings little; for a salon or a restaurant yes, but after the Google profile.
  • A logo for thousands of euros. The customer buys a solution to a problem, not a logo.
  • A chatbot, a CRM, automations. With five enquiries a week there is nothing to automate.

What cannot wait at all

Two things that hurt to fix after the first month:

The domain in your own name. Said already, repeated on purpose. I see it far too often.

One version of the details everywhere. Name, address, phone, email: identical on the website, in the Google profile, in directories, on the invoice. Decide it once at the start and never change it.

The 30-day checklist

  1. The .sk domain registered to the company, auto-renewal on.
  2. Email on the domain + SPF, DKIM, DMARC.
  3. A Google Business Profile, the same NAP as everywhere else.
  4. The decision: landing page or company site.
  5. Mandatory details and the cookie banner ready before launch.
  6. GA4 + Tag Manager with enquiry tracking, Search Console.
  7. The first service page live, even a simple one.

Seven points, one month, and the company exists for the customer, not only for the register. How a Slovak customer decides who to write to: how Slovaks choose a contractor.

If you need help

Points 1-3 you can do yourself in an evening, and paying for them makes no sense. Points 4-7 are my work: a website with the mandatory details, cookie banner and measurement included, domain and hosting registered to you, 6 months of support. A landing page from 1,500€, a company site from 3,500€, average delivery 10 working days.

I have lived in Slovakia for over ten years and have launched 12+ sites for Slovak companies. I work as a Slovak s.r.o. and issue a faktúra with an IČO you can put through your books.

Details on the web development service page. Related: opening an s.r.o., živnosť or s.r.o. and accepting card payments.
